  • HTG Medical

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2026

HTG Medical developed the HTG Urogram, a CE-marked medical device that automatically measures urine output, displays real-time metrics, and transmits data directly to Hospital Information Systems. The device is designed to save nurses up to one hour per day by removing manual bedside readings and to reduce manual fluid-tracking errors reported to be as high as 26 percent. The company navigated MDR certification and ISO 13485 compliance in about 15 months, supported by local European manufacturing and component traceability. HTG Medical has active prototypes in ICUs and is preparing a commercial rollout across Europe with plans for accelerated registrations in markets such as Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia. Financially, the startup has surpassed €1 million in total funding after raising a €450,000 pre-seed tranche from angel and VC investors.

  • Kardi Ai

    Participated · Equity · Apr 2025

Kardi AI produces an AI-powered chest strap that combines ECG measurement with AI-driven analysis to detect heart arrhythmias. The device is positioned as a continuous-monitoring alternative to traditional 24-hour Holter monitors, enabling daily measurements to improve detection of intermittent irregularities. The company has helped detect over 250 serious cases of arrhythmia and collaborates with more than 20 hospitals and roughly 130 cardiologists. Kardi AI is preparing a clinical trial in partnership with university hospitals in Olomouc and Ostrava to advance clinical validation. It recently closed a €1.1M funding round to support international expansion and further clinical validation. Initial expansion targets include Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania, followed by the United Arab Emirates and India. KARDI AI develops a software-as-a-medical-device that connects with chest straps to capture ECG recordings during everyday activity and over extended periods. The myKARDI app evaluates the recordings with advanced artificial intelligence and shares analyses with attending physicians, alerting them to detected arrhythmias. To develop its AI components the company collaborates with Bulgarian AI consulting firm Childish.AI. Founded in 2022 by Dr. Tomáš Skála, Stephen Burke, Pavel Digaňa, and David Skala, KARDI AI works with more than 70 cardiologists and neurologists and has 600 users. The startup positions its service as affordable and simple, with pricing the company compares to a family Netflix subscription per month for full real-time monitoring. KARDI AI plans to shift from a treatment-focused product to a preventive screening tool and to accelerate expansion into additional markets using the new funding. Kardi AI pairs a Polar chest-belt wearable with a mobile app and cloud platform to enable unlimited ECG monitoring and real-time AI analysis. Their AI stack cleans noisy signals and a neural network annotates beats and suggests courses of action to users while summarizing long-term recordings for cardiologists. Co-founders are cardiologist Tomas Skala (chief of medical and research) and serial entrepreneur Stephen Burke (CEO). Initial development is split between Prague (product development) and a planned machine-learning and AI team in Sofia, Bulgaria. The team has run an initial patient trial measuring 160 patients and is annotating beats by expert cardiologists to create a gold standard, targeting over a million beats. Kardi AI will use its funding to bring the product to market starting in the Czech Republic and then expand to other markets.
