- Immitra Bio
Participated · Seed · Jul 2026
Immitra Bio is developing scalable, one-time curative in-vivo gene editing therapies built around a mutation-agnostic editing approach and a digital target discovery platform. Its lead candidate, IB-003, is being developed as a potential one-time curative in-vivo gene editing treatment for an inherited anemia. The company's approach is designed to avoid complex ex-vivo cell manipulation, patient conditioning, and stem cell transplantation, aiming to enable off-the-shelf formulations that treat all patients within a given disease regardless of underlying mutation. Immitra Bio says its platform could generate dozens of differentiated therapeutic assets more quickly than highly personalized approaches. The recent CHF 2.4 million pre-seed financing will primarily fund preclinical proof-of-concept work for IB-003 and support additional discovery and validation across the pipeline and platform refinement. The company highlights scalability and commercial viability as core objectives for its technology.
- Seprify
Led · Equity · Feb 2023
Seprify engineers a proprietary cellulose-based materials platform that replaces titanium dioxide, a widely used but increasingly regulated whitening and opacifying additive. Its flagship grades include SilvaLuma, an SPF-boosting ingredient for cosmetics and personal care, and SilvaAlba, a food-grade whitening solution. The platform has been validated at technology-readiness levels 7–9 through collaborations with industrial partners and is now moving through supplier qualification, early commercial contracts and procurement negotiations. More than 100 customer organisations are actively evaluating or purchasing the material, demonstrating early market traction. Near-term priorities focus on guaranteeing consistent quality and supply for cosmetics, personal care, food and pet food markets, while scaling production for higher-volume segments such as coatings, inks and printed electronics. The company holds a broad intellectual-property portfolio covering process, product and end-use applications. Although still pre-scale, the recent capital infusion positions Seprify to transition from pilot to commercial manufacturing and meet large industrial demand.
- Biosimo
Participated · Seed · Nov 2022
Biosimo is an ETH Zurich spinoff that has developed catalytic processes to convert bioethanol into bio-based platform chemicals, including bio acetic acid and its derivatives. Its technology is also suitable for producing acetaldehyde, sodium acetate, and ethyl acetate, targeting chemical manufacturers, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The company cites the global acetic acid market at CHF 13 billion with a 6.2% annual growth rate. Biosimo was incorporated in May this year by co-founders Sotiria Mostrou (CEO) and Maximilian Moser (CTO) and currently has a four-person team. Using proceeds from its pre-seed financing, the startup plans to scale production from gram-scale laboratory output to the first kilograms. The financing package includes grants and private capital to support ramping up production processes. Biosimo develops and operates processes to produce bio-based bulk chemicals, with a focus on bio acetic acid and its derivatives derived from bioethanol. The company positions its product as a direct replacement for fossil-based acetic acid used in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and materials without changing properties, supply chains, or market prices. Biosimo cites a global acetic acid market estimated at CHF 13 billion with a 6.2% annual growth rate. The startup plans to scale up pilot production and bring the first tons of bio acetic acid to market in 2023. In parallel the team is exploring production of derivatives such as ethyl acetate and cellulose acetate, both 100% bio-based. Biosimo received CHF 150,000 from the Venture Kick program to prepare and execute the pilot phase, with the aim of de-risking the technology and securing initial customers and revenues.
