- Oceanloop
Led · Equity · Aug 2026
Founded in 2023, Oceanloop develops modular, software-driven recirculating aquaculture systems that integrate RAS engineering, marine biology, water treatment, software, digital monitoring and laboratory services. The company emerged from a merger that included Crusta Nova and the marine RAS expertise of Sander through acquisitions, and operates in Germany and Spain. Oceanloop became the first company to farm Giant Grouper in Europe, beginning commercial sales from its Strande farm near Kiel in April 2026 with an expected output of approximately 20–30 tons per year. It has designated Giant Grouper as its lead species and plans a 250-ton farm in Kiel and a 2,000-ton commercial facility on Gran Canaria as part of its rollout. Oceanloop’s sister company and seafood brand Honest Catch supplies consumers and wholesale partners across the DACH region and acts as a wholesale partner for the Giant Grouper. The company will continue R&D in land-based shrimp farming and is engaging potential partners for licensing, strategic partnerships and joint ventures for regional shrimp production.
- Nernst
Led · Seed · Jul 2026
Founded in 2023 by Nick Farandos and Chris Matson, Nernst Electric develops on-site oxygen generation units that use ceramic membranes and solid oxide electrochemistry combined with advanced additive manufacturing. The company says its reactors produce high-purity oxygen (>99%) directly from ambient air, enabling continuous supply without trucked liquid oxygen or conventional PSA/VSA systems. Nernst is currently building and deploying a pilot-scale unit to validate performance under real-world aquaculture conditions and aims to move to commercial customer trials after a successful demonstration. Its technology is positioned for applications beyond fish farming, including mining, metallurgy and steelmaking. Financially, the company has raised a €1.7 million Seed round from Hatch Blue’s Blue Revolution Fund and previously received pre-Seed support from Hatch Accelerator Fund II through Hatch Blue’s accelerator programme.
- Coast 4C
Led · Seed · Jun 2026
Coast 4C operates a platform that links smallholder seaweed farmers in Southeast Asia with global buyers via traceable and responsible supply chains. The company emphasizes regenerative seaweed production and traceability to support ocean-positive production models. With the newly raised seed capital, Coast 4C intends to scale its platform and expand support for smallholder farmers across the region. The firm has attracted impact and ocean-focused investors, including Hatch Blue, Conservation International Ventures, Potato Impact Partners and others. The World Economic Forum’s Blue Carbon Action Partnership and the APAC Community of 1000 Ocean Startups provided targeted support during the fundraise. Earlier support included investors such as Rumah Group & Foundation. The announcement did not disclose revenue, user metrics, founding year, or valuation.
- Biosort
Participated · Equity · Mar 2026
Biosort is an Oslo-based aquaculture technology company focused on improving salmon farming through automated, data-driven tools. Its flagship platform, iFarm, identifies and tracks individual salmon inside sea pens, enabling farmers to monitor health and growth in real time. Building on this capability, the firm has engineered a complementary lice-control system that targets and removes sea lice at an early stage, aiming to curb infestations before they require large-scale wellboat treatments. Management claims the approach will enhance fish welfare, lower mortality, and reduce operational costs tied to lice mitigation. The newly raised capital will fund the final development steps and initial commercial roll-out of the lice-removal technology, which will be tightly integrated with iFarm. While no revenue or deployment figures were disclosed, the company positions this round as the bridge from R&D to commercial sales, indicating an imminent shift toward scaled market adoption.
- Aviwell
Led · Series A · Jan 2026
Aviwell develops microbiome-based animal nutrition products that use native bacterial ecologies to enhance health, performance, and robustness in livestock. Powered by its proprietary Aneto AI-driven discovery platform, the company designs targeted microbial communities with clearly defined modes of action. Its initial commercial focus is on poultry and aquaculture, two sectors facing mounting sustainability and antibiotic-resistance challenges. To date, Aviwell has secured €11 million in Series A funding to accelerate R&D, validate and scale its microbial ecologies, and broaden access to its Aneto platform as a service. The fresh capital will also support deeper commercial engagement with partners and customers. Aviwell operates from headquarters in Toulouse, France, and maintains an additional office in Lowell, Massachusetts.
