Participated · Equity · Apr 2023
Elmo develops remotely controlled electric cars and provides an eco-friendly car-sharing service. Led by Founder and CEO Enn Laansoo Jr., the Tallinn-based company has deployed road-legal remotely controlled cars and licensed drivers into real-life car-sharing services in Tallinn and Tartu. Its vehicles and licensing process have been demonstrated in cities including Paris, Munich, Hannover, Zurich, Vienna, Helsinki and Los Angeles. Elmo says it is negotiating with more than 50 customers interested in licensed technology and is preparing to start driving on the public roads of at least two foreign cities this summer. The company raised up to €2.6M from investors including Highgoal Capital Management, FlyCap, Barolo Invest and SAGGIS. It intends to use the funds to accelerate licensing in foreign markets, grow the team for next-generation technology development, and prepare new eco-sustainable remotely controlled cars for public roads.
- Nordigen
Participated · Equity · Jun 2021
Nordigen offers a free open banking API that connects to PSD2 APIs at major European banks and supplies the raw account data used by banks, lenders, and fintechs. The company monetizes by selling paid access to data analytics and insights layered on top of its free connectivity. After partnering with Tink, Nordigen opened its API for free and says that approach has driven rapid adoption. Within the first four months after opening the API it quadrupled the number of API users. The team says it has integrated more banks in the last six months than Tink managed in a whole year, citing lighter legacy technology as an advantage. Nordigen was founded in 2016 and is based in Riga, Latvia. Nordigen provides banks and alternative lenders with tools to make loan decisions using customers' banking data, claiming to instantly verify real income and spending habits and identify risk-critical behaviours. The company says its algorithms offer a faster, more customer-friendly alternative to traditional credit bureaus. Nordigen works with banks and alternative lenders across 12 countries, including the Baltic states, Spain, Finland, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Australia and New Zealand. It estimates it has analysed close to 1 billion transactions to date. The company plans to use new capital to hire additional staff, with a focus on sales and business development, and to enter new markets such as Brazil, South Africa, the USA and the UK. Co-founder Rolands Mesters has framed the product as a global alternative to credit bureaus enabled by Open Banking.
