  • GrocerApp

    Participated · Seed · Sep 2020

GrocerApp operates a low-price online supermarket in Pakistan, offering groceries, vegetables, beauty & wellness, household care, baby care, pet care, meats & seafood with doorstep delivery. Founded in 2016 by Ahmad Saeed, Hassaan Sadiq, and Rai Bilal, the company emphasizes customer experience and seamless order fulfilment. The founders previously played key roles scaling PakWheels and have rapidly expanded GrocerApp from Lahore into Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Between its $1.0M seed round and this Series A, the company reported a 300% increase in orders and revenue, with total annualized revenue exceeding US$15 million. Management states unit economics are sustainable and plans include expanding to additional strategic Pakistani cities and launching new online grocery initiatives. GrocerApp highlights its operational infrastructure for receiving orders, beginning fulfilment, and completing delivery to support daily customer growth. GrocerApp, founded in Lahore in 2016 by Ahmed Saeed, Hassaan Sadiq, and Bilal Zafar, operates an online grocery platform allowing customers to order groceries, fruits, vegetables and meat through web and mobile apps for same-day delivery. The company runs a pure-play model with its own inventory, fulfillment centers and an operations model that now relies on a network of freelance drivers. GrocerApp offers about 4,000 SKUs in Lahore and 1,500 SKUs on its app in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following recent expansion. It has recently achieved multi-fold growth and is currently growing at 20–30% month-over-month. The startup plans to use new funding to make its supply chain more efficient, automate processes to scale, and fuel further expansion. Management is exploring expansion to Karachi next year.

  • Baby Planet

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2020

Baby Planet operates an online marketplace for baby products, offering items from wipes and diapers to strollers and cribs. Founded in 2014 by Irfan Ahmed and based in Lahore, the platform features over 5,000 SKUs and ships nationwide. The company waives shipping fees on orders above PKR 1,500 (about USD 9). Baby Planet reports a seven-figure annual GMV in US dollars and has seen a significant spike in sales since the pandemic began in February. The startup plans to use new funding to scale across Pakistan and accelerate growth. It also intends to launch mobile apps for iOS and Android with part of the investment.

  • Tajir

    Participated · Equity · Jun 2020

Tajir is a Lahore-based B2B marketplace that lets mom-and-pop stores place inventory orders through its app, compare prices, and receive next-day delivery with 24/7 ordering. The platform primarily sells packaged consumer products—biscuits, soft drinks, home and personal care items—and supports over 1,000 SKUs while adding roughly 100 SKUs per month. Tajir generates revenue by taking a percentage of orders placed on its platform. Cofounded by brothers Babar (CEO) and Ismail Khan (CTO), the company participated in Y Combinator’s winter 2020 class; the founders have familial experience in distribution. Tajir previously raised a $1.8M seed in the summer prior to this Series A and reports that revenue has increased tenfold since that seed round. The company aims to digitize Pakistan’s fragmented retail supply chain and improve product availability and pricing for small retailers. Tajir operates a B2B e-commerce platform that helps fragmented, family-owned convenience stores in Pakistan source inventory from FMCGs, wholesalers and distributors. The platform aims to reduce time spent dealing with hundreds of suppliers, cut incorrect or uncertain deliveries, and improve price discovery and product selection for small retailers. By aggregating demand and providing a transparent distribution channel, Tajir seeks to lower procurement costs and prevent stockouts that reduce store incomes. The company was founded in 2018 and is backed by Y Combinator. Tajir raised $1.8 million in a recent funding round, providing capital to scale operations in its core market. The product focuses on improving logistics and supplier reliability for neighborhood stores rather than direct consumer retail.
