- Ivy Energy
Participated · Series A · Apr 2024
Ivy Energy builds the Virtual Grid Cloud, a SaaS platform that enables onsite solar distribution, battery storage management, and integrated EV charging for multi-tenant real estate. The platform uses proprietary algorithms and smart-grid technologies to monetize onsite energy for property owners and lower energy costs for tenants. Ivy positions its products to address split-incentive barriers that have limited solar adoption in shared living spaces. The company offers end-to-end digital management of shared onsite energy programs and emphasizes owner revenue, compliance, and resident experience. Ivy plans to expand its technological and geographic footprint, introduce new products, enhance end-user experiences, and create additional revenue streams for clients. The company closed an $18M Series A to fund that growth and scale its operations.
- Tough Commerce
Participated · Equity · May 2023
Tough Commerce, formerly Brokrete, offers a complex commerce platform that enables users to create industry-specific workflows to digitize operations from e-commerce to delivery and back-office to payout. The platform targets industries underserved by traditional e-commerce giants, notably the construction industry. The solution is fully operational and is used by construction suppliers throughout Canada, the United States and Australia. Led by CEO Jordan Latourelle and based in Toronto, the company intends to use the new funds to expand operations and its business reach. This latest CAD$2M round was in addition to CAD$2.1M raised the prior year to accelerate customer acquisition, roadmap and organic growth. Combined with prior financings, Tough Commerce has raised north of CAD$7.8M to date. Brokrete provides a Shopify‑style, industry-specific Storefront product that lets construction suppliers sell and manage orders online via white‑labeled web stores and iOS/Android apps. The platform includes order management, payouts, dispatching, logistics, real‑time delivery and integrations with financial and operational ERPs. Brokrete targets the traditionally offline construction supply chain and aims to digitize ordering and inventory visibility for suppliers and contractors. The company says it works with 1,000+ contractors and a 250+ supplier network. Brokrete launched Storefront as its core e‑commerce offering and plans to use new funding to expand in North American and European markets. The startup graduated from Y Combinator’s winter cohort last year and is led by founder and CEO Jordan Latourelle.
