Founded in 2020 and led by CEO Nathan Ough, VoltaGrid is a Houston-based advanced energy management and generation company providing behind-the-meter generation, portable power, CNG fuel supply, infrastructure, and energy management services. Its customers include data centers, AI infrastructure, utilities, and industrial clients across North America and beyond. The company reports an order book of roughly 7.5 GW through 2030. VoltaGrid plans to expand deployment and strengthen supply-chain and manufacturing capabilities following its announced acquisition of Propell Energy Technology Ltd., which adds about 1,000 employees and experience in reciprocating engines and turbine technologies. The recent $1.0 billion strategic equity investment is intended to accelerate those deployments and reduce execution risk on its projects.

- Bird

MessageBird offers an omnichannel communications platform and developer-facing API that lets companies add messaging, voice, email and chat channels to apps and websites. Its product set includes Inbox for customer service, Campaign Builder for marcomms, Video, and a full API suite for developers. The company supports channels such as SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, Google Business Messages, Apple Business Chat, Voice and email, and sells both pre-built “lego block” solutions and customizable integrations. MessageBird says the acquisition of SparkPost will bring the industry’s largest email sending and deliverability platform into its suite and help expand its US presence. Financially, MessageBird raised an extended $1 billion Series C that values the company at about $3.8 billion and marks the largest Series C in Europe to date. Founded in 2011 by Adriaan Mol and Robert Vis, the company has pursued M&A previously (including the £26M purchase of Pusher last year) as it moves toward an IPO. MessageBird, founded in 2011 and based in Amsterdam, offers an omnichannel platform‑as‑a‑service that lets businesses communicate with customers across WhatsApp, Messenger, WeChat, Twitter, SMS, email, voice and more via APIs and an omni‑channel chat widget. The company repositioned from a Twilio competitor to an OPaaS focused on enabling enterprises and SMBs to move customer interactions seamlessly across channels. MessageBird says one‑third of its 15,000 customers have adopted its omnichannel products and the company is on track to do €300 million in annual revenue. It spent its first six years largely bootstrapped and claims to have been profitable from day one. The funding will be used to triple the size of its global team, expand in Europe, Asia and Latin America, and pursue potential M&A and product investments. MessageBird is also investing in automation within its Flow Builder product with ambitions for RPA‑style capabilities for external business messaging. MessageBird is an Amsterdam-founded cloud communications platform that offers voice, video and text capabilities via APIs. The company operates its own telecoms infrastructure and has direct integrations with 220 carriers globally, which it says reduces hops, cost and latency compared with competitors. Historically it has targeted larger enterprise customers and built direct carrier relationships to compete on price, reliability and security. MessageBird counts 15,000 international customers, including DoorDash, SAP, Huawei, ING, Amber Alert, Heineken and Uber. The company has been profitable since day one, was largely bootstrapped and Y Combinator-backed, and is on track to hit a $100 million run rate this year. To meet rising inbound demand and scale its teams, the company raised external funding despite profitability to accelerate growth.
