  • Prevu

    Participated · Series A · Dec 2023

Prevu operates a digital home-buying platform that lets buyers search for homes, schedule tours, draft offers and collaborate with a dedicated salaried agent, with an Amazon-like user experience. The company hires agents as salaried employees with benefits and pays them a small commission while offering buyers cash-back rebates drawn from the buyer-agent commission. Since launching its digital platform in June 2017, Prevu has helped over 1,200 buyers purchase homes totaling more than $1.5 billion and says it has saved consumers an average of $23,000 per purchase. Prevu currently operates in 12 major metropolitan markets and has 25 employees, most of whom are agents; its average agent completes about 40 deals per year. The startup generates revenue from net commission on each transaction (1% to 1.5% of transaction value, net of customer rebate) and reports annual revenue growth of nearly 10x since its 2019 seed round. It plans to expand into additional markets (including Texas and Florida), add mortgage, title and other buyer-related services—bolstered by its purchase of mortgage technology from Reali—and aims to become a nationwide brand. Prevu operates a Smart Buyer™ digital platform that lets consumers search, offer, schedule tours, and complete purchases with expert agent support during the final stages. The company emphasizes buyer control and transparency, passing two‑thirds of agent commission back to buyers and offering rebates of up to 2%. Customers who have purchased through Prevu have received average rebates of $23,000. Prevu launched its Smart Buyer™ platform in 2017 and currently operates in the New York Metropolitan Area and Connecticut. The product combines online tools with local agents who step in for negotiation and closing, aiming to reduce agent time spent on new‑client acquisition and increase service efficiency. The company plans to use new funding to grow its engineering team and strategically expand into new geographic markets.
