- inne
Participated · Series A · Oct 2019
Inne builds a connected minilab for at-home, saliva-based hormone testing with a subscription of single-use testing strips and an app offering fertility and cycle-tracking modes. The product measures progesterone to confirm ovulation and will add a cortisol test for stress profiling; an app update will also add 41 self-reported symptoms and events to correlate with hormones. Inne launched out of stealth R&D in 2019, scaled cautiously through COVID-related supply-chain disruption, and focused initial commercial efforts on Germany with early users also in Austria, Switzerland and the U.K. The company circulated roughly 500 devices in its first year and closed the last year with close to 2,000 customers. Inne is pursuing regulatory clearance for a digital contraceptive (a study with a European partner is underway and expected to complete around November), and plans a Q1 launch for that product if the data and approvals align. The team emphasizes user data protections (double encryption and split processing, with some on-device processing) and is preparing a U.S. perimenopause partnership to enter the U.S. market. Inne has developed a saliva-based disposable hormone test paired with a pocket-sized reader and companion app that logs hormonal data and builds individual baselines for fertility tracking and natural contraception. The product is positioned as a hormone-free contraception and fertility tool that measures fertility hormones (eg. progesterone) rather than using temperature, and the company says it applies algorithms to interpret hormonal readings alongside cycle data. Inne reports it has completed the biochemical R&D work since 2017 and says it has applied for and gained European CE medical device certification. The company plans a closed beta launch in select European markets (starting in Scandinavia) with a wider product launch slated for Q1 next year, and it intends to run further clinical studies and pursue FDA certification to enter the U.S. market. Inne is also exploring additional use cases for longer-term hormone tracking, such as menopause insights and research into conditions like endometriosis. The company says it prefers manufacturable, low-cost testing chemistry and has worked with external diagnostics partners to optimize the test.
