  • Phase

    Participated · Equity · Feb 2025

Phase builds a no-code WYSIWYG platform that enables UI/UX and product designers to create fully interactive website and app simulations and export production-ready UI code. The company launched its first product, a UI animation tool positioned against Adobe After Effects and Figma, and says the software can produce complete prototypes that behave like real products. Phase plans to roll out three additional tools — UI advanced prototyping, UI design and UI code export — across this year and next to streamline the end-to-end design workflow. The startup pursued a region-by-region go-to-market, soft-launching in South Korea where it found roughly 10,000 testers within weeks out of an estimated 100,000 designers. After opening a global beta and stabilizing the product, Phase says it is moving out of beta and prioritizing expansion into the U.S. and European markets. The company raised $13 million in funding in the round reported here.

  • XREX

    Participated · Series A · Aug 2021

XREX operates as a blockchain-enabled financial institution working with banks, regulators, and users to deliver enterprise-grade banking services to small and medium-sized businesses operating in or dealing with emerging markets, and novice-friendly financial services to individuals globally. The company focuses on compliant, USDT-based cross-border payments and RegTech solutions for emerging markets. XREX plans to expand its product set through a collaboration with Tether to facilitate USDT-based cross-border B2B payments and to innovate regulatory technology. As part of the partnership it will work with the Unitas Foundation to launch XAU1, a USD-pegged unitized stablecoin over‑reserved with Tether Gold (XAUt), intended as a stable alternative and inflation hedge for customers. XREX Singapore recently acquired the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Major Payment Institution license, and XREX operates under a Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission Registered VASP status. The company is led by CEO Wayne Huang and has an investor lineup that includes Taiwan’s National Development Fund, CDIB Capital Group, SBI Holdings, E.Sun Financial Holding, ThreeD Capital, AppWorks, BlackMarble, and New Economy Ventures. XREX is a Taipei‑headquartered blockchain startup offering cross‑border payment and crypto‑fiat services to help merchants in emerging markets perform faster transactions. Its platform includes a wallet, a commercial escrow service called Bitcheck that uses stablecoins (USDT and USDC) to guarantee payments, and a crypto‑fiat exchange enabling conversion between stablecoins and U.S. dollars. The company targets merchants in countries with low U.S.‑dollar liquidity, letting buyers escrow stablecoins until suppliers provide proof of shipment. XREX emphasizes compliance and partners with AML providers such as CipherTrace, Sum&Substance and TRISA, and uses Public Profiles with a Reputation Index to increase transparency. Following an oversubscribed $17M pre‑Series A led by CDIB Capital Group (after a $7M seed in 2019), XREX plans to use funding to pursue financial licenses in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Africa and to partner with banks and payment gateways. Leadership includes co‑founder and CEO Wayne Huang and co‑founder Winston Hsiao, and the company says it will limit supported cryptocurrencies to a small set of compliant stablecoins favored by business customers.
