Nuhma mainly invests in renewable energy applications such as C-Power, Aspiravi and Bionerga. Nuhma adds support for initiatives such as innovation 3E and Limburg Science Park. Nuhma was founded in 2001 as the utility holding Limburg municipalities. The municipalities are the shareholders and deliver with Nuhma an important contribution to the CO2-neutral, making our province by 2020. Today Nuhma supplies more than a third of the Limburg residential energy as green energy. Nuhma strives to green energy is at least 50% of the Limburg residential energy to ensure by 2020.

SOLiTHOR is a Belgium-based spin-off from imec that develops solid-state lithium battery cell technology. Founded in 2021 by Huw Hampson-Jones and Dr Fanny Bardé, the company is commercializing next-generation solid-state batteries. It claims its technology will improve energy density, charging speed, weight, volume and safety while being easier to manufacture than other solid-state approaches. SOLiTHOR plans to apply its batteries across transport sectors including automotive, aviation, marine and space to enable further electrification and address autonomy, performance, longevity and safety challenges. The company raised €10 million in funding to develop the required technology and advance toward manufacturing and commercialization. SOLiTHOR aims to become a key provider in the European battery value chain and contribute to exports and local manufacturing activity.

Enervalis is an energy software developer based in Houthalen-Helchteren, Belgium, led by CEO Stefan Lodeweyckx. Its core product is an IT platform that monitors available energy sources and users, predicting future demand and supply using weather forecasts, user input, self-learning algorithms (AI) and big data. The platform assesses system flexibility to align energy use with user needs and allows actions such as postponing electric-vehicle charging until sufficient renewable energy is available. It also enables more efficient control of technical devices in private homes, hotels and office buildings. The company recently raised €4.2M to support its operations. Enervalis will use the capital to fund continued research into its platform and to drive international growth.
