- Paperly
Participated · Equity · Nov 2025
Founded in 2018 by former school-sector software engineer Daniel Dawson, Paperly provides configurable software modules that handle excursion management, digital forms, parent-teacher interview scheduling, calendar management, and other administrative tasks for primary and secondary schools. The platform integrates with existing student information and learning management systems, giving schools real-time oversight of risk and compliance while replacing fragmented third-party tools. Paperly operates on a subscription SaaS model that lets schools buy only the modules they need, a flexibility that has attracted both small schools and large multi-campus organisations. Since its 2023 seed round, the company reports a 4,600% increase in annual recurring revenue and now has more than 250 schools contracted for 2026. Roughly 60% of its earnings are reinvested into product improvements, and the business has grown to a team of about 30 with offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and the UK. International expansion is underway, with initial customers in Thailand and the UK and significant inbound interest from Asia and further UK institutions. Co-founders Dawson and COO Jak Tidman are both finalists in the 2025 Australian Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, underscoring industry recognition of the company’s rapid growth.
- Andromeda Robotics
Participated · Series A · Sep 2025
Andromeda builds Abi, a next-generation humanoid companion robot and has launched its latest model. The company will begin first deployments at a mecwacare aged care home this month. Andromeda plans to focus initially on aged care as it expands into the US while continuing to scale operations and teams in Australia. The raise is intended to accelerate US expansion, fast-track the Australian waitlist, and support hiring across engineering and customer success. In the US the company is prioritising recruitment of creative and animation robotics specialists. Andromeda emphasised the funding will help bring Abi’s companionship to more customers and partners across aged care and other sectors. Andromeda Robotics builds Abi, a humanoid companion robot designed to provide companionship and support to older adults in aged care facilities and children in hospitals. Abi was developed with input from Disney and Pixar animators and uses AI and machine learning to customize interactions, respond to questions, express emotions, recognize faces, and remember past interactions. The robot assists with daily tasks and offers social and cognitive support to enhance users' quality of life and independence. Abi's personality will be customizable through an upcoming app, with options such as a 'sarcastic coach' highlighted as popular. Andromeda has progressed with limited funding and recently raised a $3 million seed round to scale Abi across Australia. The company plans to use the new capital to improve Abi's capabilities, grow the team, and move to larger manufacturing facilities in South Melbourne.
