NinaMED develops the NiNA System®, a drug-free, noninvasive, at-home therapy for overactive bladder that targets the saphenous nerve via a centralised mechanism. The company holds an exclusive license from EBT Medical, Inc. to commercialise the device. NinaMED plans to use the US$13.75M raised in its recent financing to accelerate development of the NiNA System and to support the path to an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) application. It also intends to use funds to build out the company’s operations in Australia. The company is privately held and based in Melbourne and recently appointed a board led by Chair Ian Meredith with Non-Executive Directors Kelly Constable and Steffen Hovard.

ErVimmune is a preclinical biotechnology spin-off from the Centre Léon Bérard focused on creating next-generation cancer vaccines and cell therapies for tumors that resist current immunotherapies. Its platform identifies unconventional tumor epitopes originating from human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) to spark robust anti-tumor immune responses. The company’s lead candidate, ErVac01, is being advanced toward clinical evaluation in triple-negative breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Beyond ErVac01, ErVimmune is building a pipeline of therapeutic candidates aimed at additional oncology indications driven by novel HERV-derived antigens. The business recently strengthened its leadership by appointing Eric Halioua as executive chairman to steer it through upcoming clinical milestones. Financially, ErVimmune secured €17 million in the first close of its Series A round, providing runway to progress its lead program and expand its pipeline.

KAHR Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Modi’in, Israel that creates dual-targeting fusion protein therapeutics designed to activate both the innate and adaptive immune systems within the tumor microenvironment. Its lead candidate, DSP107, is a first-in-class bispecific CD47×4-1BB T-cell engager that anchors to CD47-expressing tumor cells while delivering a potent 4-1BB co-stimulatory signal to recruit and activate cytotoxic T cells. Across more than 130 treated patients, DSP107 has shown a favorable safety and tolerability profile. In a Phase 2a study of heavily pre-treated metastatic microsatellite stable colorectal cancer (MSS-CRC), DSP107 combined with atezolizumab achieved a 17.5-month median overall survival, outperforming the 6.4–10.8 months generally seen with approved therapies, even though 75% of patients had liver metastases. Encouraged by these data, the company has launched a randomized, controlled Phase 2b trial comparing DSP107 plus atezolizumab to fruquintinib in fourth-line MSS-CRC, with interim results expected in late 2026 and topline data in the second half of 2027. Proceeds from its latest financing and an accompanying debt facility are intended to fully fund this Phase 2b program and other R&D activities.

Lattice Medical develops resorbable, 3D-printed implantable devices for reconstruction of soft tissues such as in post-cancer breast and deep subcutaneous tissue reconstruction. The company plans to integrate a supercritical CO2 sterilization process into its industrial 3D-printing manufacturing chain to meet implantable-device sterility requirements while preserving material properties. It also intends to shorten production times, reinforce regulatory control, secure critical manufacturing steps, and offer sterilization services to third parties. Founded in 2017 by Julien Payen, the company holds 14 international patents. Financially, Lattice Medical raised approximately €2.15 million for the MEDCO2 project and previously completed a €43 million funding round in 2025. Clinically, it closed the first phase of its TIDE trial with 10 patients enrolled.

Brisbane-based Vaxxas is commercialising its proprietary high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP), a needle-free platform designed to improve vaccine performance and simplify logistics. Research cited in the article shows influenza vaccines delivered via HD-MAP remain stable for up to 12 months at 40 °C, significantly reducing cold-chain requirements. The company is currently running its largest Phase 1 study to date in the United States with more than 250 participants, pairing HD-MAP with a pre-pandemic influenza vaccine under BARDA backing. In Europe, Vaxxas leads a consortium with SK Bioscience and IDT Biologika to develop next-generation seasonal and pandemic flu vaccines. The EU initiative could ultimately provide up to A$250 million to carry successful candidates through late-stage trials and registration. Near-term, an initial €12.9 million tranche will fund a Phase 1 clinical trial and preclinical work on HD-MAP delivered flu vaccines. These programmes position Vaxxas to move its platform toward regulatory approval and commercial deployment, while validating the technology’s potential to bolster global pandemic preparedness.
