Overview

Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body under the Department of Science & Technology, GOI promotes development, up-scaling and commercialization of indigenous technologies in the country by providing financial assistance to companies. Since its inception in 1996, the Board has provided such assistance in the form of soft loans, equity & in special cases grants to about 280 industrial concerns for commercialization of domestically developed technologies, and for innovation/technology-driven entrepreneurship.

    Founded in 2018 within the IIT Kanpur ecosystem, EndureAir Systems has evolved from a research-driven initiative into a developer of mission-ready unmanned aerial platforms designed and manufactured in-house. The company's flagship program, the SABAL-200, is a VTOL unmanned aerial system engineered to carry up to 200 kg with an endurance of 2.5 hours and a range of 200 kilometres, and incorporates a variable-pitch rotor, a turbocharged internal combustion engine and an advanced mechanical powertrain. EndureAir's UAV portfolio builds on more than a decade of rotorcraft R&D and earlier platforms, including the SABAL-20 and SABAL-40, which have been deployed across defence and civilian applications in high-altitude and challenging terrain. The recent ₹30.01 crore RDI funding is intended to accelerate the SABAL-200 from TRL 5 to TRL 9 and to expand manufacturing, testing and field-deployment capabilities. The company plans to strengthen indigenous engineering and design capabilities, scale production and operations, and support aerial logistics for defence and civilian infrastructure in remote regions. As it scales, EndureAir expects the program to generate employment opportunities across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

    Noccarc develops and produces critical-care medical equipment, including patient monitors and ventilators for intensive care units, and operates a digital platform that lets physicians digitize records and access device data remotely. The company plans to diversify its product line and expand into new markets while incorporating AI-based services in the future. It has a robust research and development unit and has filed for 19 more patents, bringing its total number of patents to seven. Noccarc recently received permission from the Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CdSCO) to produce and market regulated goods in India. The startup says it has worked with a wide range of hospitals and has supplied over 3,600 ventilators across India. The company raised $2 million in a recent funding round to accelerate development, support R&D projects, improve customer service, and establish sales and distribution networks in major cities. Nocca Robotics develops automated, water-less and shareable robotic cleaning solutions for utility-scale solar parks and rooftop installations, leveraging AI, machine learning, deep learning and robotics. The company plans to use the new capital to set up a robust manufacturing facility, launch robots dedicated to rooftop panel cleaning, bolster R&D, and strengthen its production team. It says its solution helps plant owners operate at peak efficiency by reducing manual cleaning costs and limiting production losses from dust accumulation; Indian solar plants reportedly spend about Rs 500 crore annually on cleaning. Founded in April 2017 by IIT Kanpur graduates Harshit Rathore and Nikhil Kurele, Nocca is an incubatee of the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre at IIT Kanpur. The startup is Pune-based and targets utility solar park developers and large rooftop installation companies across India.
