Overview
The Faktory is a private tech startup accelerator, incubator and venture capital seed fund founded by Pierre L’Hoest, the Belgian entrepreneur renowned for starting EVS Broadcast Equipment, an international TV slow motion technology valued at 422M€ in 2016. The Faktory has invested in 11 companies with a capital of over 4.5M€ under management. Our companies offer products and services to international niche markets in the areas of consumer electronics, high-technology, gaming and apps, drones, SaaS and IoT products. Our team and mentors come from all walks of life with professional experience in different countries. Furthermore, we partner with Boldstart Ventures, based in NYC, who, with over 30 years of venture tenure, oversaw the successful exits such as Divide (acquired by Google), GoInstant (acquired by Salesforce) and Rapportive (acquired by Linkedin). Based on efficient approaches like the Lean Startup and Business Model Canvas, a 360° analysis is applied to the most promising ideas. The objective is to help startups to grow by identifying and validating market niches, customer-centric development and by providing the means necessary to deploy and launch their businesses successfully.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Louvain-la-Neuve, e-peas develops and markets ultra-low-power semiconductor technology that enables devices to operate from ambient energy sources such as light, RF, vibration, and heat. Its product portfolio includes energy-harvesting power management ICs, microcontrollers, and sensor solutions backed by about 15 years of research and patented IP. The company says its solutions power high-volume applications including solar-powered remote controls, HVAC systems, cameras, and smart tracking devices for global customers. e-peas aims to extend battery lifespans and eliminate battery replacements for industrial and IoT device designers. Financially, the company has raised multiple rounds including €8 million in 2020, €17.5 million in March 2024, and the recent €19.2 million round to support commercial scaling and international expansion. The firm also maintains offices in Switzerland and the USA.

Its solution aims to optimise the flow of factories by automating manual, repetitive tasks for technical operators and assisting operational managers in logistical planning. The startup serves manufacturing customers, including L'Oréal, Saint-Gobain, Renault and Daher. Founded in 2019 by Bastien Triclot and Fabrice Jutteau, Zozio positions itself as a benchmark logistics platform for the industry of tomorrow. The company plans to triple its workforce and further develop its offering for manufacturing players across Europe. It will also expand internationally through distribution partnerships and by opening a new office in Germany this year, funded by the recent raise.

Penbox provides a platform for collecting documents and structured information, using smart forms and customer data enrichment to reduce administrative burden for insurance brokers. The company is integrated into Portima’s Brio brokerage management platform and is used by more than 130 insurance brokers. Since launching in November 2019, Penbox has invited over 100,000 Belgian residents to share information with brokers, expanded to the Flemish market in September 2021, and grew from 25 clients in 2020 to 130+ clients. The team was incubated at KBC Start-it, received a grant from Innoviris, and has been recognized in several fintech and insurance industry programs and awards. Penbox plans to double headcount from 11 to 20 by June 2022, increase its customer base by the end of 2022, attract larger Belgian players, and expand into the French market. The company recently closed a €1.5m fundraising to accelerate growth and consolidate its presence in the Belgian brokerage market.
