  • Recupere Metals

    Participated · Equity · Jan 2026

Founded in March 2025, Recupere Metals is a French startup tackling the looming copper supply gap by recycling scrap copper directly into new wire. Its patented mechanical technology bypasses traditional smelting and refining, lowering energy consumption while producing wire that meets industrial specifications for electric motors, data centres and other digital infrastructure. The company is currently running pilot tests with prospective customers to fine-tune volumes and technical characteristics, and it plans to monetise through direct sales of copper wire. Management targets production costs on par with conventionally mined copper despite relying exclusively on recycled feedstock. With fresh funding, Recupere Metals aims to scale from laboratory work to full industrial production and to build local recycling-based supply chains that reduce Europe’s dependence on imported copper. The startup ultimately envisions annual output of 6,000 tonnes of copper wire by 2028.

  • A&B Smart Materials

    Participated · Seed · Dec 2025

A&B Smart Materials is an Oxford-based materials science startup engineering fully biodegradable superabsorbent polymers that can slot into existing manufacturing processes for products such as nappies, menstrual pads, and agricultural soil additives. Its technology modifies biopolymers derived from widely available, low-cost natural feedstocks to deliver absorbency performance comparable to synthetic SAPs while eliminating microplastic pollution. The company’s R&D focuses on balancing high absorbency, competitive cost, and industrial-scale validation so that large hygiene and agricultural players can adopt the material without retooling. Management sees a sizeable opportunity in a SAP market expected to reach about $17 billion by 2035 and aims to “completely replace” persistent fossil-based SAPs in high-volume single-use products. The fresh capital strengthens its runway to accelerate lab work, pilot production, and partnership development for commercial trials. To date, the company has raised £1.5 million in external funding, with no operating revenue disclosed yet.

  • Inoqo

    Participated · Equity · Oct 2023

inoqo offers an AI-powered platform that can quickly and affordably assess thousands of F&B products and re-engineer product composition based on available retailer data. The technology factors in likely country of origin, production processes, packaging, and transportation when assessing impact. To avoid greenwashing, inoqo defaults to conservative data for consumer communication when primary data is unavailable and enables manufacturers to supply more specific product data over time. The company launched in 2020 with a consumer-focused app that gained traction among environmentally concerned Austrian consumers and attracted retailer interest after receiving European honors. Retail partners such as Oda have expressed strong interest, highlighting retailer-led opportunities to influence producers. Financially, inoqo recently secured seven-figure funding to support its platform and commercial expansion.

  • Fermify

    Participated · Seed · May 2023

Fermify develops continuous precision fermentation to produce casein proteins that enable tasty, meltable and economical vegan cheese. The company’s IP-protected continuous bioprocess and use of digital twins target an estimated 50% cost reduction versus conventional batch fermentation and cost parity with conventional cheese by 2027. Fermify says its technology can substantially cut greenhouse gas emissions, with a potential reduction of over half a million tons CO2 equivalents in the next 10 years. Founded in 2021, the startup blends bioprocess engineering, molecular biology and food science to deliver in-house milk protein production for customers. The team reports more than 45 global customers in the pipeline and will begin first implementations at customer sites this year. With the new funding, Fermify plans to accelerate optimization and full digitalisation of its bioprocess and expand the team to meet global demand.
