Rock Flour Company (RFC) taps nutrient-rich glacial rock flour naturally created by Greenland’s glaciers to create a sustainable plant nutrient that can both raise agricultural productivity and sequester CO₂. Field trials in Ghana and Denmark, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, have shown crop-yield increases of up to 30 percent while allowing farmers to cut back on synthetic fertilizers. The company plans to deploy its first commercial project in Greenland, run additional long-term pilot programs, and secure large-scale extraction permits. Funds will also support partnerships with growers and agribusiness groups and accelerate R&D on processing innovations to raise the profile of glacial rock flour in regenerative farming. With Greenland’s glaciers producing more than a billion tons of rock flour annually, RFC positions itself to transform cropland into lasting carbon sinks. The company’s operations are headquartered in Greenland, and it has already attracted a roster of climate-focused investors. RFC’s recent €6.1 million seed infusion provides its initial external capital to fast-track commercialization and scale global outreach.

Operational targets in the announcement include spreading 200,000 metric tons of rock powder to capture 40,000 metric tons of CO2 and keeping on pace to remove 1 million metric tons of CO2 by 2026. InPlanet deploys enhanced rock weathering by supplying and spreading finely ground rock powder on tropical agricultural land to accelerate natural CO2-consuming chemical reactions.
