The company aims to accelerate sales in France and internationally; transnational industrial customers have already placed orders and strategic partnerships are under negotiation. H2GREMM positions itself to produce decarbonised hydrogen from renewables and contribute to the Green Deal 2050 objectives.

The company says its technology can cut food waste by up to 80% and boost a store’s net profits by as much as 51%; it reports preventing 56,846 tons of waste and saving roughly $177 million for consumers via discounts. Over 400 shops across France use Smartway’s system today. The startup plans to use the new funding to ramp up R&D and enhance its technology stack while scaling deployments. Management aims to fit out 4,000 supermarkets across France, Belgium, Portugal and Spain by 2025 and accelerate expansion into Italy and Eastern Europe, while remaining in exploratory talks with a major U.S. supermarket chain. Smartway highlights a multi-year data set and a store-agnostic approach as competitive advantages against more HR-intensive or niche rivals.
