- Weenat
Participated · Series C · Apr 2024
Weenat builds and deploys agro-meteorological and soil-water sensors and delivers spatialised, calibrated weather and soil data to farmers and agri‑industries. It combines its sensor network with satellite imaging and AI and launched an R&D program in 2023 to monitor real-time soil water across the root zone. The company operates the largest network of soil sensors in Europe with over 25,000 sensors deployed and serves more than 25,000 users via 200+ in-field partners. Weenat has 60 employees and acquired data-driven agtech Weather Measures in 2021 to reinforce its R&D capabilities. The startup says its 10,000 soil sensors conserved 32 million cubic meters of water in 2023. It plans to expand its precision irrigation solutions across eight European countries to strengthen agricultural resilience to climate change.
- Invers
Led · Series A · Sep 2022
Invers develops an insect production chain to transform insects into alternative proteins for animal feed and pet food. The company operates a circular model that relies on partner farmers for breeding and on cooperatives for sourcing and commercialisation. Its pet food products are already sold in 500 specialised stores across France, including networks such as Gamm Vert, Magasin Vert and Botanic. Invers raised €15 million in a Series A led by IDIA Capital Investissement and Agri Impact, a fund managed by Citizen Capital in partnership with Fondation Avril. The funding will enable the company to scale up and structure a national agricultural supply chain, beginning in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region to deploy operations for up to 50 farmers in the Limagne plain. In a second phase the platform aims to duplicate the model across all French regions as part of its ambition to participate in the food and agricultural transition.
- Javelot
Led · Series B · Sep 2022
Javelot develops connected solutions (thermometry, ventilation and insect traps) and a platform to store and monitor grains remotely. Its tools are used by cooperatives, storage operators and farmers to pilot storage more effectively and more responsibly, reducing pesticide use by 90%. Founded in 2018 and based in Wasquehal, France, the company employs 25 people. Javelot currently monitors 10% of French grain storage capacity and aims to cover 50% of European grain within five years. The startup sells hardware and a monitoring platform to improve storage outcomes and reduce pest-related losses. Financially, the company completed a Series B in which it raised capital to accelerate scaling.
- InnovaFeed
Participated · Series D · Sep 2022
Founded in 2016, Innovafeed develops technology to rear and transform the Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) at industrial scale to produce protein and oil ingredients for animal and plant nutrition. Its proprietary, sensor-driven and partially robotic production process and wet transformation method aim to optimise breeding conditions and product digestibility. The company says its Nesle production unit is fully operational and has produced over 15,000 tons of protein and oil in three years while increasing volumes tenfold and cutting production costs by seven. Innovafeed plans to prioritise commercial deployment of its Hilucia™ product ranges—particularly in functional segments of aquaculture and pet food—while redirecting investment toward industrial equipment, applications development, and operational excellence. As part of this new phase the company is reorganising activities around Nesle, integrating R&D from Gouzeaucourt and planning a workforce reduction tied to that integration. Innovafeed reports strong commercial traction with revenues doubling annually and emphasizes the environmental benefits of its circular industrial model.
- Smartway
Participated · Equity · Apr 2021
Smartway (formerly Zéro-Gâchis) offers an AI-powered suite for retailers to identify near-expiry items, decide whether to discount or donate them, print discount labels, and handle donation administration through four modules: Smartdetection, Smartdecision, Smartdiscount and Smartdonation. The company says its technology can cut food waste by up to 80% and boost a store’s net profits by as much as 51%; it reports preventing 56,846 tons of waste and saving roughly $177 million for consumers via discounts. Over 400 shops across France use Smartway’s system today. The startup plans to use the new funding to ramp up R&D and enhance its technology stack while scaling deployments. Management aims to fit out 4,000 supermarkets across France, Belgium, Portugal and Spain by 2025 and accelerate expansion into Italy and Eastern Europe, while remaining in exploratory talks with a major U.S. supermarket chain. Smartway highlights a multi-year data set and a store-agnostic approach as competitive advantages against more HR-intensive or niche rivals.
