- ORIS MATERIALS INTELLIGENCE
Led · Series A · Sep 2025
ORIS Materials Intelligence is a Paris-based company offering a cloud solution that blends artificial intelligence, data science and engineering to help infrastructure owners, engineering firms and municipalities design environmentally responsible transport assets. Its platform evaluates carbon footprint at the earliest stages of a project, optimizes local material use, lowers CO₂ emissions and construction costs, and incorporates climate-resilience criteria. In 2024, the tool helped clients avoid 3.1 million tonnes of CO₂, save 4.4 million tonnes of primary resources and cut €20 million in costs across more than 18,500 km of road projects. Current customers include Sweco, Ramboll, Bouygues, AECOM, Die Autobahn, the Asian Development Bank and UNIDO. Initially developed as an intrapreneurial venture inside a major construction-materials group, ORIS became a commercial entity in 2021 and is completing its carve-out in 2025. The company plans to accelerate product development, expand internationally and scale its impact with large infrastructure owners. Led by co-founders Nicolas Miravalls (CEO) and Renaud de Montaignac (COO), it operates from Paris with an office in Lyon and representatives across Europe and Asia.
- Abolis Biotechnologies
Participated · Equity · Sep 2024
Abolis Biotechnologies, based in Évry-Courcouronnes, France, specializes in industrial solutions using microorganisms across food, healthcare, cosmetics and chemicals. The company combines expertise in biology, fermentation, IT, robotics, analytics and industrial property to develop bioproduction solutions. It leverages biotechnologies and micro-organisms to create economically and ecologically sustainable alternatives to petrochemical products and chemical ingredients. Abolis raised €35M in funding to support its growth. Backers included L’Oréal’s venture capital fund BOLD, DeepTech & Climate Fonds, and Evonik Venture Capital as lead investors, alongside Clay Capital, ICOS Capital and Liberset. The company intends to use the funds to accelerate expansion into global markets and to speed R&D to bring its own portfolio of ingredients, to be industrialized with partners, to market. The investment was accompanied by a new strategic industrial partnership between Abolis, L’Oréal and Evonik to bring selected innovations to market for the healthcare, cosmetic and chemical sectors. The company is led by CEO Cyrille Pauthenier.
- Weenat
Participated · Series C · Apr 2024
Weenat builds and deploys agro-meteorological and soil-water sensors and delivers spatialised, calibrated weather and soil data to farmers and agri‑industries. It combines its sensor network with satellite imaging and AI and launched an R&D program in 2023 to monitor real-time soil water across the root zone. The company operates the largest network of soil sensors in Europe with over 25,000 sensors deployed and serves more than 25,000 users via 200+ in-field partners. Weenat has 60 employees and acquired data-driven agtech Weather Measures in 2021 to reinforce its R&D capabilities. The startup says its 10,000 soil sensors conserved 32 million cubic meters of water in 2023. It plans to expand its precision irrigation solutions across eight European countries to strengthen agricultural resilience to climate change.
- Novolyze
Participated · Series A · Mar 2022
Novolyze develops patented digital solutions that digitalize food safety and quality processes, offering dynamic monitoring, traceability, and holistic views of process control, sanitation control, and environmental monitoring. Its platform is used by 20 of the world’s top 100 food companies, including Nestlé, MARS, ADM, Cargill, and Olam, to mitigate risks, ensure compliance, augment plant performance, and increase sustainability. The company says its solutions can also help customers decrease energy and water use and reduce carbon footprint. Novolyze plans to use new funding to hire additional employees and accelerate feature enhancements to its digitalized solutions for Environmental Monitoring, Process Control, and Sanitation Control. The company has grown its presence in the U.S., France, and Serbia and was founded in 2012. The business emphasizes replacing inefficient manual, paper-based processes to improve efficiency, scale, and sustainability for food manufacturers. Novolyze produces powdered, ready-to-use non‑pathogenic microorganisms that mimic common foodborne pathogens (salmonella, listeria, E. coli) so manufacturers can validate processes like baking, pasteurization, extruding and drying without bringing pathogens into facilities. The surrogates are designed to reduce the cost and logistical burden of validation — Novolyze claims a 70% reduction in overall validation cost and eliminates the need for on-site consultant preparations. The company has contracts with ten major global food players and is running a pilot with Australia’s GrainCorp through the Terra Accelerator. Novolyze operates in France and the United States with offices in Dijon, San Francisco, and Cambridge, MA; the company was founded in 2012. Management said it expects roughly €1 million in revenue in 2018. Using the new funding, Novolyze plans to expand market share in Europe, the US, and Asia and to launch a digital product for verification of food safety processes in mid‑2018.
