Overview
Veloxis is a speciality pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of Envarsus® (LCP-Tacro) for the prevention of organ rejection in kidney transplant patients. Envarsus® is a once-daily dosage version of tacrolimus, the market-leading primary immunosuppressant in the transplant market, and has successfully demonstrated non-inferiority compared to Prograf® in its two Phase III clinical trials, Study 3001 (stable kidney transplant patients) and Study 3002 (de novo kidney transplant patients). In April 2013, the company submitted a marketing authorization Application (MAA) to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) seeking approval to market Envarsus® for the prevention of organ rejection in kidney transplant patients in the European Union. In December 2013, the company submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seeking approval for the marketing and sale of Envarsus® for the prevention of organ rejection in kidney transplant recipients. The submission is based on the entire data set from the company's clinical development program that comprised 25 studies and enrolled over 1000 patients, including two pivotal clinical trials, studies 3001 and 3002. At the same time, Envarsus® was granted Orphan Drug status by the FDA for prophylaxis of organ rejection in patients receiving allogenic kidney transplants. The company is using its proprietary MeltDose technology in the formulation of Envarsus® to enhance the bioavailability of the drug and allow for a sustained or modified release plasma profile. The MeltDose technology has been validated in clinical studies through FDA approval of Fenoglide (now on the market) for the treatment of dyslipidemia in adults. Veloxis was founded in June 2002 as a spin-off from H. Lundbeck A/S and is listed on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen A/S (OMX: VELO). Veloxis is an international company with headquarters in Hørsholm, Denmark, and a fully owned subsidiary in New Jersey, U.S.

- Xenikos
Led · Convertible Note · Sep 2021
Xenikos develops immunotherapies based on toxin-conjugated monoclonal antibodies designed to reset the immune system in life‑threatening T cell–mediated conditions. Its flagship product, T‑Guard, targets CD3 and CD7 to selectively eliminate mature T cells and NK cells with a short-lived effect to reduce infection risk. A Phase 1/2 study showed a high complete response rate and a doubling of six‑month overall survival versus institutional historical controls; those results were published in a peer‑reviewed journal. T‑Guard has been granted Orphan Drug Designation in both the EU and the US. The company plans a randomized Phase 3 registrational trial in the US and EU to evaluate T‑Guard versus ruxolitinib for steroid‑refractory acute graft‑versus‑host disease, expected to commence in the second half of 2021. Xenikos is based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and recently secured financing to support the Phase 3 program. Xenikos is a Dutch biotech developing a late-stage transplantation medicine. Its core product is a transplantation treatment currently in late-stage development. The company secured $30 million in a Series B financing. Medicxi and RA Capital Management are named participants in the round. Proceeds are intended to push the transplantation medicine through further development. The article does not provide revenue, user metrics, prior fundraising details, or a founding year.
- MeduSoil
Participated · Seed · Dec 2020
MeduSoil, founded in 2020 and based in Lausanne, develops sustainable construction solutions centred on biomineral-based binder products. The company uses biosynthesis to replace chemically synthesised or mined binders, aiming to help clients approach net-zero carbon emissions without sacrificing structural performance. MeduSoil applies its materials across earthworks, special foundations, and protective measures to improve resilience against natural hazards. The newly secured funding will support expansion in production and sales and a push into the Swiss and broader European markets. CEO and co-founder Dr. Dimitrios Terzis described the Technology Fund’s participation as a strong endorsement of the company’s vision and innovation. MeduSoil developed a novel, containerized technology enabling bio-cementation for construction and geo-environmental works. The system mineralizes carbon underground and aims to reduce CO2 emissions in otherwise energy-intensive construction processes. It is positioned to safeguard built assets against natural hazards and enable sustainable land development on solid foundations. The startup says incumbent solutions based on cement and petroleum derivatives fail in its target niche. MeduSoil is ready to ramp up production and grow operations, focusing on commercialization and market expansion. The company has previously been supported by Venture Kick in 2018 and participated in AIT India in 2016.
