  • SiPhox Health

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2023

SiPhox Health develops silicon photonic chip–based diagnostics to bring lab-grade blood testing into the home. Founded in 2020 by MIT scientists Diedrik Vermeulen and Michael Dubrovsky, the company was part of Y Combinator's summer 2020 cohort and is based in Burlington, Massachusetts. Today it runs mail-in testing using conventional lab technology and sells a kit that measures 17 biomarkers across inflammation, cardiovascular, metabolic, and hormone panels for $95 plus a $16 monthly membership. Its first product was a $1 COVID-19 test on a disposable cartridge; the company is developing the SiPhox Home finger-prick device to miniaturize testing onto silicon chips and deliver protein and hormone results in five minutes or less. SiPhox Health is targeting U.S. FDA clearance for SiPhox Home within a year and is preparing a case study with thousands of participants. The startup has about 30 employees and reports early signs of chronic disease, such as pre-diabetes, in roughly 20% of tests.
