Smart Protection provides a technology platform to combat piracy and counterfeiting on the internet. The Madrid-based company is led by CEO and co-founder Javier Perea. It works with clients across 25 countries and generates 76% of its income from companies outside Spain. Smart Protection closed a €10m Series B to fund growth. The company intends to use the funds to build engineering teams, accelerate its international expansion and broaden its technological solutions. Existing client reach and international revenue mix indicate a primarily export-driven commercial profile. Smart Protection provides a SaaS online content and brand protection platform that monitors the web to capture and identify a brand’s assets across search engines, marketplaces, social networks, apps, P2P torrents and download/counterfeit sites. Its system uses data technologies to gather information and combines machine learning with cybersecurity experts to analyze and eliminate infringements, achieving over 95% efficiency. Through automated processes and agreements with Google and major social networks, the company can take down piracy or counterfeiting links in a matter of hours. The startup serves clients in 18 countries, including Warner Bros Entertainment, Movistar+ and McAfee, and has delisted over 11 million hyperlinks on Google to date. Founded in 2015, Smart Protection recently raised €5.2M in a Series A and plans to use the funds to accelerate international expansion and further develop its AI technology.
