Swyft

388 Parliament Street Suite 200, Toronto, Ontario, M5A 2Z7, Canada

Overview

Swyft operates a marketplace that connects a network of shipping carriers with vendors and provides back-end software to help carriers digitize and automate operations. The software increases carrier efficiency and lets multiple regional carriers participate in a single delivery without adding drivers or trucks. Swyft runs a zero-asset model and says it can be 25–30% cheaper than incumbent options. The company has facilitated more than 180,000 packages since April 2020 and expanded gross margin from 78% to 82%, driven in part by software revenue. Swyft is targeting smaller retailers and mom-and-pop vendors that currently can’t offer same-day delivery, aiming to band them together to match larger players’ speed and scale. The founding team includes Aadil Kazmi (CEO) and Zeeshan Hamid (head of Engineering), both formerly at Amazon, and Maraz Rahman (head of Sales). Swyft is a Toronto-based digital logistics startup that provides a SaaS marketplace connecting ecommerce merchants to existing courier networks to enable affordable same-day delivery. Its application integrates with ecommerce carts like Shopify and Magento, grants couriers free access to its software in exchange for joining Swyft’s marketplace, and builds a network of warehouses and delivery drivers. The product includes real-time tracking, predictive estimated times of arrival, and driver–customer communication to reduce missed deliveries; Swyft says some merchants have increased average order value by as much as 31%. Clients range from brands such as Puma and Under Armour to local retailers, with the company’s bread-and-butter being cosmetic, apparel, and coffee deliveries. Launched in March, Swyft plans to use the new capital to hire sales and engineering staff, expand its software to reach new clients, and build integrations with additional platforms such as eBay and Walmart Marketplace, with an immediate focus on Shopify. The company aims to grow its team from four to about 12–13 employees by year-end and cites increased ecommerce demand during COVID-19 as a catalyst for traction.
