Valpas offers smart anti-bedbug bed legs and an IoT/AI-enabled mobile web app with in-app image recognition to keep rooms bedbug-safe 24/7 without chemicals. Its hardware prevents transferred pests from infesting rooms and the app helps identify and dispose of sightings. The company is already working with over 300 hotels across 40+ destinations, including premium brands such as Accor Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Design Hotels, ARP-Hansen and Bob W. The €4m seed investment will be used to ramp up production to meet increased demand ahead of a busy summer of international sport and travel. Valpas also plans to build partnerships with travel booking agents and platforms to make it easier for travellers to identify and choose bedbug-safe hotels. Valpas Enterprises develops an IoT bioengineered wellness system built into smart bed legs that trap and detect bed bugs and connect to a monitoring platform. Hotels replace existing bed legs with Valpas’ smart legs to monitor rooms in real time and receive notifications when bed bugs are caught inside the legs. The platform combines physical traps and sensors with notifications to prevent hitchhiking bed bug incidents and allow hotels to communicate they are not open for bed bugs. The company positions the solution as transforming the negative stigma associated with bed bugs into a competitive advantage for hotels. Valpas intends to use newly raised funds to advance internationalization and the mass production of its solution. The company is led by CEO Martim Gois.
