- Fundbot
Participated · Seed · Dec 2023
Fundbot is a UAE-based fintech, founded in 2020 by Karl Abou Zeid, that automates corporate lending and payments between banks, buyers, and sellers. Its platform offers a fully automated, end-to-end embedded supply-chain finance solution enabling banks, telcos, fintechs, and B2B marketplaces to embed and rapidly launch financial services. The product aims to address SME cash-flow problems by providing faster, flexible financing, real-time transaction visibility, and reduced manual intervention. Fundbot emphasizes FSI-grade security, running isolated customer infrastructure, regular penetration testing and daily scans, plus region-specific disaster recovery protocols. The company raised a $1.5 million seed round led by Hambro Perks Oryx Fund with participation from Aditum Investment Management, Flat6Labs, MEVP and PlusVC to fund MENA expansion. It plans to expand initially across the UAE and Saudi Arabia and later into Oman, Bahrain, and Egypt. The company cites a regional cash-flow gap of $250 billion affecting 19 million SMEs as rationale for its solution.
- Mtor
Participated · Seed · Dec 2023
Mtor operates a B2B online marketplace and mechanic-facing app that connects local workshops and service providers directly with parts importers, managing logistics from its two warehouses in Cairo and Giza. The platform addresses fitment data, parts availability, price transparency and delivery, and runs on a margin model with standardized pricing and free delivery. Mtor has served more than 2,500 workshops, fulfilled over 70,000 orders, and partnered with over 60 importers since launching. The startup leverages a visual and voice interface plus a fitment and parts-matching engine to reduce mechanics' search time and improve part quality. Egypt’s automotive after-sales market — valued at over $5 billion with an 8 million vehicle fleet and average owner spend of $600+ annually across ~35,000 workshops — is the target opportunity. Mtor has made recent leadership and operational hires and plans to double down on attracting mechanics monthly and strengthen partnerships with major importers using the new investment.
- Ordermentum
Participated · Equity · Sep 2023
Founded in 2014 by Adam Theobald and Andrew Low, Ordermentum has built a digital backbone for Australia’s wholesale food and beverage trade, connecting roughly 50,000 venues with suppliers through a single ordering, payments and reconciliation platform. The company claims deep integration in day-to-day industry workflows and, after its September 2023 all-stock merger with rival Foodbomb, had scaled to about 40,000 venues, 850 suppliers and processed more than $1.2 billion in orders annually. Ordermentum says it will use new capital to deepen AI capabilities and pursue acquisitions that complement its existing wholesale technology stack. The recent financing values the merged business above $150 million and is intended to accelerate product and market expansion while enabling partial exits for some earlier investors.
