Led · Equity · Mar 2026
Dronus designs, produces and deploys systems aerei a pilotaggio remoto (remote-piloted aerial systems) centered on its patented Nest drone-in-a-box, a suspended aerial base that automates takeoff, landing and battery recharge for autonomous, repeatable missions. The Nest approach treats each base as a replicable node to create distributed airborne infrastructure for continuous inspections and monitoring across industrial sites, logistics, smart-city and oil & gas applications. The platform is engineered for 24/7 BVLOS operation, leverages AI and precision optical cameras, and includes drone models with ATEX certification and an attestato di inoffensività for safer urban operations. Dronus was founded in 2018, is headquartered in Trieste and has a multidisciplinary team of over 30 people. The company has partnerships with Eni and Qualcomm and is running deployments including a monitoring initiative in Singapore with HTX and a 5G Smart Factory trial with Ericsson in the U.S. The recent €15 million raise will fund completion of Nest’s development, new AI features and the scaling of the platform’s data-management and transmission capabilities to support international expansion and deeper industrial adoption.

- Biocentis
Led · Seed · Nov 2025
Biocentis leverages a proprietary genome-engineering platform to create insects that carry fertility-reducing genetic traits, lowering target pest populations when they mate with wild counterparts. The company complements its wet-lab work with AI models that simulate real-world ecological performance, helping predict and mitigate emerging insect-borne threats. Its initial programs focus on the Aedes aegypti mosquito, a vector for dengue, Zika, yellow fever and chikungunya, and on Drosophila suzukii, a fruit fly that endangers global fruit production. Future plans include moving these first solutions into field trials across the Americas and expanding the platform to additional harmful species. Biocentis positions its approach as an environmentally sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides, which face rising resistance and collateral ecological damage. The company has raised $19 million to date, comprising $13 million in seed equity and a $6 million non-dilutive award from Wellcome, providing the capital needed for upcoming trials and further R&D.
