  • Nexar

    Participated · Series D · Nov 2021

Nexar is best known for its line of smart dash cams and for assembling a crowdsourced, real-time "digital twin" of cities from dash-cam footage. Its Live Map product, launched in 2019, provides street-level video and uses computer vision to mark construction, street signs and other features; the company has since added more layers and capabilities. Nexar captures 150 million miles of imagery each month. It offers CityStream and related data services to customers such as the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada to manage work-zone traffic. The company plans to scale the digital-twin platform across more locations and accelerate update speed so detections (e.g., potholes, construction) appear within seconds. Nexar positions its data to help cities with disaster response and road-status info, and to train AI models and support OEM driver-assistance and autonomy features. Nexar builds a connected safe-driving network by pairing Nexar-powered smart dash cams with a mobile app that uses computer vision and sensor fusion to see hazards and alert nearby drivers. Using anonymous, aggregated data from this network, Nexar offers a portfolio of vision-based data services for public- and private-sector partners, including the Nexar CityStream platform for construction zone and road inventory monitoring and Nexar Virtual Camera for on-demand visual feeds. Its U.S. driver network has grown tenfold since late 2018 and now spans more than 70 million miles every month across over 1,000 cities. Led by CEO and co-founder Eran Shir, the company plans to use the new funding to expand its business reach and development efforts and will roll out a curbside mapping pilot in Europe with one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers. The company highlights use cases such as monitoring traffic at hospital entrances and observing crowd levels in parks, alongside a number of private-sector products. After the Series C, Nexar has raised nearly $100M in total funding to date. Nexar offers a free dashcam app connected to a V2V communication network that combines deep learning and sensor fusion with off-the-shelf hardware to provide advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and collision-prevention alerts. The company also supplies data products and telematics to insurance carriers, including collision reconstruction and first notice of loss reports to expedite claims and reduce fraud. Nexar’s tools are used by consumers, insurers, and automakers and are led by CEO and Co‑Founder Eran Shir alongside CFO Yoad Shraybom and Chief Business Officer Marc Gaffan. Since launching the app in 2016, drivers in 740 cities across 160 countries have driven more than 100 million miles with Nexar, including 10 million miles in the most recent month; its largest markets include New York City, San Francisco, Tel Aviv, and Las Vegas. The company plans to use its data to help municipalities and states manage infrastructure and traffic and to make roads safer through data-powered insights. Nexar intends to expand its V2V network by working with insurers, cities, and automakers to broaden adoption and product reach. Nexar builds an AI-powered mobile app and platform designed to improve driving behaviour by recording dangerous events and uploading them to the cloud. The software can reconstruct accidents using a phone’s sensors and includes an internal-facing camera mode geared toward Uber and Lyft drivers to guard against drunk passengers. Nexar’s app aims to protect drivers, help them avoid difficult situations on the road, and log incidents for later review. The company is co-founded by CEO Eran Shir and CTO Bruno Fernandez-Ruiz. Nexar raised $10.5m in a Series A and has raised $14.5m in total to date. It says it will use the proceeds to continue expanding operations. Nexar builds a network of human drivers and machine sensors that work together to predict, prevent and protect cars on the road from difficult and dangerous situations. The company is launching its platform in Los Angeles and Tel Aviv free of charge. Nexar is based in Tel Aviv, Israel and Los Angeles, California. It was founded by Eran Shir and Bruno Fernandez-Ruiz. The company raised $4M in funding to support its product launch and growth. Investors in the round included Aleph, Slow Ventures and angel investors.

Its radio-wave–based technology is presented as harmless to human health and targets the collaborative robotics segment. Founded in 2015 by CEO Luca Salgarelli, Inxpect owns more than twenty international patent families in the industrial sensor field. The company will use new funding to accelerate R&D in 3D radar imaging technology and support international commercial expansion.
