Overview
Cellnex Telecom is the telecommunication infrastructures operator of the abertis group. It provides cutting-edge audiovisual services to radio stations at a national, regional and local level. It provides mobile radio-communications to security and emergency bodies, and telecommunication services to other operators. It designs, deploys and operates WIFI networks for public administrations. In order to provide these services it possesses its own land network of more than 3,200 centres, spread around the whole country, and has also strengthened its position in the satellite communications sector, through its participation in the Hispasat company and as a partner of reference of the Eutelsat company. Cellnex Telecom proposes to continue its strategy of growth in a continually expanding sector, as an international reference and leading player in European technological development.

The company says its solution manages all levels of the network ecosystem through a single interface to maximize edge benefits. Nearby reports rapid market traction and plans to expand its market coverage and sales force to accelerate adoption. The firm intends to consolidate leadership across North America, Asia‑Pacific and Europe. Its strategy emphasizes empowering companies and service providers with advanced edge computing and software automation solutions. Nearby Computing, founded in 2018 as a spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), builds orchestration and automation software for networks with a focus on Edge Computing and 5G. The company develops tools to deploy and maintain virtual network functions and high-value applications such as computer vision, augmented reality and IoT, optimizing resource efficiency and guaranteeing service levels. Its products target telco operators, industry (Industry 4.0), utilities, smart-city deployments and connected-vehicle networks. By 2020 Nearby Computing had commercial activity in Spain, elsewhere in Europe, North America and the Middle East and maintains a broad partner network. The approximately €2M raised in the seed round will be used to reinforce growth by scaling global commercialization, consolidating projects, expanding R&D capacity and improving customer service. Investors will also collaborate on commercialization in their markets and integrate the startup into advanced innovation programs.
