Cambridge Touch Technologies develops UltraTouch, a piezoelectric sensor architecture that combines algorithms with advanced materials to enable multi-force-and-touch input across devices. UltraTouch targets consumer electronics, automotive, industrial and military markets and addresses issues such as reliable use in the rain while adding new functionality like realistic virtual buttons for car interiors and underwater smartphone operation. The technology also supports buttonless designs, wearables and foldable phones, including automatic display on/off when a foldable is opened or closed to save power and extend battery life. Led by CEO and co-founder Corbin Church, the company plans a commercial rollout of UltraTouch with strategic launch partners using the new funding. Financially, CTT closed a $10m Series B that brought total funding to nearly $20m. The company is based in Cambridge, UK and lists the University of Cambridge among its existing investors. Cambridge Touch Technologies (CTT) is a Cambridge, UK–based developer of low-cost 3D Multi-Touch technologies for smartphones and tablets. Its patent-pending 3D Multi-Touch technology integrates into existing manufacturing lines and the company provides OEM and supply-chain customers with IP, know-how, analogue and digital technologies and advanced system architectures. CTT is a University of Cambridge spin-out co-founded by CEO Corbin Church and CTO Dr Arokia Nathan. The company completed a Series A funding round; financial terms were not disclosed. Proceeds will be used to grow technical and customer support teams and to continue commercialization of its 3D Multi-Touch technology for smart devices.
