- Praso
Participated · Series A · Aug 2023
Praso operates a B2B distribution platform connecting large foodservice manufacturers with small retailers — bars, restaurants, cafés and bakeries — and provides data-driven demand generation, last-mile logistics and a credit solution. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Recife, the company works with 120 supply partners and 7,500 merchants across four metro areas. Praso originally bought inventory from suppliers to resell to merchants but is shifting toward offering fulfillment services where it runs logistics for manufacturers and monetizes logistics, demand generation and marketplace customer acquisition. The company grew revenue 7x over the past year, became contribution profit positive in 2023, and is on track to grow another 3x by the end of this year. Praso recently acquired the intellectual property of Floki, an AI startup that automates purchases for small bars and restaurants, and plans to integrate Floki’s data intelligence and purchasing insights into its product. Future features include accounts payable management, automated inventory fulfillment and a merchant credit offering to provide working capital and buy‑now, pay‑later style terms.

Compra Rápida offers a checkout autofill system that lets customers enter an email once and reuse their data across other e-commerces registered in the platform. The service is currently integrated with Tray and VTEX. The company emphasizes user consent and compliance with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD). With new funding, Compra Rápida plans to expand operations to serve large Brazilian retailers while continuing to add value for small and medium merchants. Management aims to increase average order values and encourage more recurring purchases through the product. The startup also plans to double its team to reach 30 employees by the end of the year. Compra Rápida offers a one-click-buy platform that lets consumers register once and complete future purchases across participating e-commerces using stored address and payment details. The system adapts to merchants' payment and anti-fraud providers, producing checkouts that are on average 52% faster and driving up to 44% higher conversion. The company charges a small percentage fee on new purchases by registered customers, with rates that vary by merchant transaction volume. Founded by engineers Mário Marcoccia and Rafael Gibelli, the team drew on checkout experience at companies including LivUp and Bain & Company. The startup began operating in June 2021 and has since grown its number of stores eightfold, serving customers across Brazil in categories from apparel to food and cosmetics. Compra Rápida is currently focused on Brazil but says it may expand across Latin America in the medium term.
