Paebbl

Kungsgatan 10, Stockholm, Stockholms Lan, 11143, Sweden

Overview

Paebbl focuses on eliminating the carbon footprint of cement by replacing carbon-intensive clinker with a magnesium-based silicate binder that permanently locks away CO₂ through accelerated mineral carbonation. The company’s process yields supplementary cementitious materials—or partial clinker replacements—without compromising strength or durability. To speed development, Paebbl and its research partners employ machine-learning models and advanced simulations that optimize both the mineralization reaction and the design of low-carbon concrete mixes. Industrial validation is a priority: the project consortium includes precast concrete leader Consolis and global building-materials firm Holcim, alongside Delft University of Technology and KU Leuven. Paebbl has also launched what it calls the world’s first continuous CO₂ mineralization demonstration plant, underscoring its move from lab science to real-world deployment. The firm’s approach positions concrete not just as a lower-emission material but as an active carbon sink, aligning with EU goals to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors.
