  • Oval

    Participated · Equity · Apr 2017

Oval combines expense tracking, automated saving and investing into a single AI-driven mobile app and adds a social element for users to share tips and strategies. The app supports 'round-ups', percentage-based savings, and fixed-amount savings tied to merchants, categories or tags. Oval aims to make saving virtually automatic and to harness collective intelligence from its user community alongside algorithmic recommendations. During its closed beta, users saved on average just over £400 over three months (about £135 per month), and the company reports users improve their saving behavior over time. Financially, Oval has raised €1.2M in funding to support product development and growth. Founding team members include CEO Benedetta Arese Lucini, co-founders Claudio Bedino and Edoardo Benedetto, and CTO Simone Marzola.

  • Le Cicogne

    Participated · Equity · Jul 2016

Le Cicogne provides an online and mobile platform that allows families to find and book vetted babysitters. Co-founded in 2013 by CEO Monica Archibugi and COO Giulia Gazzelloni, the company is based in Rome, Italy. It was accelerated within Luiss Enlabs and later supported by Pi-Campus via its Pi-Internship program. The service is currently present in 83 cities with 3,000 families using the platform. The company plans to reach 120 cities in the next months and intends to use the funds to consolidate and expand its presence in Italy, with a later expansion into Europe. Le Cicogne is an online platform that connects families with vetted babysitters and other childcare services, including baby & teen taxi, tutoring and baby party services. Service providers (called cicogne) are trained and vetted 18–30 year olds who access job opportunities online. Families upload queries on the website and choose between offers; the company also offers B2B services to companies and hotels. Led by CEO Monica Archibugi, CTO Valentina Tibaldo and COO Giulia Gazzelloni, Le Cicogne was incubated and accelerated within Luiss Enlabs. The company will use the new funding to grow its customer base in Rome and Milan and to finalize development of its mobile app. It raised €85K at an €850K valuation and is seeking a further €40K by October 2014. Le Cicogne operates a marketplace that connects parents with babysitters, baby-teachers and baby-taxi drivers. The service targets students aged 18–28, offering a subscription model to find flexible job opportunities. Members must pass a certification test and meet the team in person before accepting opportunities. Parents can register for free, submit entry requests and choose among candidates. The company is incubated in Enlabs. It will use the funds from the micro-seed to grow operations.
