Scent Library, founded in 2015 and based in Beijing, sells perfumes, home fragrances, and body care products. The brand was an early entrant into China’s domestic fragrance market and has built a following with creative, highly localised scents (one popular fragrance reportedly evoked water boiling in an aluminium pot). Scent Library operates more than 80 stores across mainland China. Chinese business media 36Kr reports the company secured investment from Spanish perfume and beauty company Puig in a Series B. Sources cited by 36Kr put the round at roughly $10 million, though the companies involved declined to officially disclose the amount. Industry data in the article notes China’s domestic perfume market has grown at an annual rate of more than 25% since 2017 and is expected to become the world’s second-largest perfume market within the decade (iResearch).
