X Mile’s digital transformation platform for transportation and logistics operators has grown annual recurring revenue by more than 90% year-on-year. The company plans to expand its vertical AI product line for logistics, construction, and manufacturing, grow its M&A and business-support capabilities, and deepen partnerships with major corporations. Its recent Series C increases total funding to JPY6.96 billion and is intended to support product expansion and acquisitions that add complementary products and teams.

    Orts develops personal AI and large language models and offers products such as AI GIJIROKU, altBRAIN, an AI call-center product, and CLONEdev. Founded in 2014, the company has actively researched, developed, owned, and operated generative AI services. In response to growing demand for social and business implementation of generative AI, Orts plans to deepen collaboration with corporate partners and invest in its AI technology infrastructure and product development. The company also aims to secure top talent and strengthen sales and marketing functions. Financially, Orts announced approximately ¥1.9 billion in its latest round, an amount that includes bank debt. After the round, its cumulative funding stands at about ¥8.0 billion. alt Inc. develops Personalized Artificial Intelligence (P.A.I.) and a suite of AI products centered on voice-to-text transcription. Its flagship transcription service, AI GIJIROKU, has achieved solid growth since its release. The company also offers AI Call Center, Nulltitude, AI Translation (Linguacode.AI), AI Moderator and other AI solutions. Proceeds from the fundraising will be used for AI-based voice-to-text product development, sales and marketing, hiring, and R&D to further its digital cloning and P.A.I. initiatives. alt aims to capture share of the global voice-to-text market and become a market-leading company in Asia, advancing toward its P.A.I. vision of "freedom from unproductive labor." The company raised ¥3.52 billion in the Series D and plans to accelerate promotion and recruitment with the funds.

    FLUX develops FLUX AI, a no-code AI platform that underpins several solutions allowing businesses to leverage predictive analytics, NLP and large language models without coding. Its current applications focus on digital advertising and marketing, including tools for optimizing ad revenue, ad operations and audience management. FLUX collects over 100TB of data each month into a common database to train models and improve service performance while maintaining data governance and privacy compliance. More than 1,100 publishers and advertisers use FLUX services, enterprise customers are the largest segment, and reported churn across services is low at 0.2%. The company raised ¥4.4 billion (approximately $32M) in a Series B, bringing total funds raised to ¥5.6 billion (about $40M). FLUX plans to use the funds to enhance current products (including generative-AI features for marketing), expand the platform horizontally beyond advertising, and accelerate AI research and hiring of engineers.

    Kyash operates a mobile-first banking app that enables consumers to make online and offline payments, remit money, withdraw from ATMs, and use virtual and physical prepaid Visa debit cards. The company carved out its white-labeled card-issuing platform to infcurion last year and is now focused on direct-to-consumer channels. Kyash holds a fund transfer license (2017) and a prepaid debit card license (2020) from Japanese authorities. Management says the business has achieved unit-economics positivity, and the company saw roughly 22% growth from January to May 2020 per a Fincog report. Kyash plans to use the new proceeds to double headcount and accelerate product growth, and it may consider overseas expansion in the mid- to long term. Total funding to date is about $107.7 million since the company was founded in 2015. Kyash operates a consumer payment app that connects to a prepaid Visa card, offering instant payment notifications, clear balances and lower fees for overseas spending. Founded in 2015 by Shinichi Takatori, the company built its own payment processing system and, through a tie-up with Visa, issues and processes prepaid Visa cards for other fintechs. Beyond the consumer product, Kyash has a B2B payments business that sells issuing and processing capabilities to companies in Japan. It is applying for banking licenses that could enable checking accounts, ATM withdrawals and money remittance, and Mitsubishi UFJ has said it will integrate its card with the Kyash app. Kyash declined to share user numbers; financially it just closed a $14M Series B to fund expansion. Management says it is in discussions with crypto companies, is eyeing overseas expansion (potentially after the 2020 Olympics), and expects to raise a "pretty quick" Series C to accelerate growth.
