    Invizius is an Edinburgh-based biotech developing H-Guard, a surface-coating therapy flushed through dialysis machines to reduce the inflammatory response when patients' blood contacts machine surfaces. H-Guard aims to prevent immune reactions that can cause organ and cardiovascular damage in dialysis patients. A 'First in Human' study earlier this year demonstrated safety, tolerability and produced encouraging biomarker data. The new funding will support preparation for the next stage of clinical trials and the design of a trial for continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) to assess immune modulation and reduction of renal tubule damage. The company plans to advance into Phase 2B trials and continue research into additional patient benefits for H-Guard. Financially, the latest raise brings Invizius's total capital raised to over £13m. Invizius, based in Motherwell, Scotland, is a University of Edinburgh spin-out founded in 2017 and led by CEO Richard Boyd. The company is developing proprietary H-Guard® Priming Solution, a novel protein that lines the inside of the dialysis filter to prevent the blood’s foreign body response. Its core product aims to suppress unwanted innate immune responses and reduce the life-threatening inflammatory effects of haemodialysis. Invizius has established the regulatory pathway in North America and sees potential for coincident approval in Europe. The company intends to use the Series A funds to complete a First-in-Man safety study in 2022. It is also looking to expand its product pipeline into other high-value indications. Invizius is a University of Edinburgh spinout advancing dialysis technology to reduce cardiovascular risk in long-term dialysis patients.     iCOMAT’s core product is its Rapid Tow Shearing (RTS) process, an automated manufacturing technique that rearranges carbon-fibre tows so components are both lighter and stronger than those made with conventional composite lay-up. The company has just opened the 45,000 sq ft Advanced Composites Manufacturing Enterprise (ACMA) in Hardwicke, Gloucester, equipped with separate 2D-RTS and 3D-RTS production lines for satellite panels, solar-array substrates and curved propellant tanks. By reducing material usage, RTS lowers weight and cost while improving sustainability—critical benefits for spacecraft and satellites. The plant operates on an open-access model, allowing customers and research partners to prototype or scale production with RTS technology. Although designed for space, the same processes can be applied to next-generation aerospace and automotive parts, broadening iCOMAT’s commercial scope. The facility is projected to catalyse 2,000 skilled jobs and anchor a domestic supply chain for advanced composites in the UK.
