Invizius, based in Motherwell, Scotland, is a University of Edinburgh spin-out founded in 2017 and led by CEO Richard Boyd. The company is developing proprietary H-Guard® Priming Solution, a novel protein that lines the inside of the dialysis filter to prevent the blood’s foreign body response. Its core product aims to suppress unwanted innate immune responses and reduce the life-threatening inflammatory effects of haemodialysis. Invizius has established the regulatory pathway in North America and sees potential for coincident approval in Europe. The recently raised funds will be used to expand the team and complete a commercial demonstrator facility near Stirling to drive commercial traction. Financially, the company secured a £2.3M funding package from new and returning investors to support these commercialisation efforts.
