  • Cato AI

    Participated · Seed · Apr 2026

Cato AI offers a platform that leverages AI to automate repetitive tasks in procurement and tender management, aiming to cut analysis and document-drafting time for offices that handle bids. The company emphasizes three pillars: operational efficiency, human-in-the-loop integration where professionals retain final review and signature responsibility, and continuity to offset skilled personnel shortages. Before its market launch it engaged over thirty customers across sectors including medical devices and IT, and has processed more than 60,000 tenders, analyzed over 2,000, and produced 500 technical and administrative documents. Founders include CEO Andrea Zorzetto and CTO Matteo Bossolini. The startup plans to expand beyond its initial sector focus and will use the newly raised funds to further develop and scale its automation platform.

  • Pillar

    Participated · Seed · Sep 2025

Founded in 2025, Pillar offers an AI-powered software platform that automates administrative and back-office construction processes such as quote generation, margin tracking, workforce management, and reporting. The platform integrates data from accounting software, bank feeds, and site communications (including WhatsApp updates) into a single interface to provide real-time operational visibility without forcing contractors to change existing workflows. Pillar aims to modernize one of the least digitized industries by consolidating fragmented data and manual processes across projects. The company intends to expand its product ecosystem with modules covering procurement, tender management, subcontractor coordination, banking, and other construction services. Pillar plans to use its recent €12M seed round to strengthen its Italian market position and scale internationally. The startup has raised €15.2M in total to date.

  • Recornea

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2025

Recornea is a clinical-stage Italian medtech company developing the GROSSO® Reshaper, a nitinol corneal implant designed to restore vision in patients with keratoconus. The GROSSO® Reshaper uses a predefined physiological curvature to remodel the cornea with predictable visual results and is built on a nitinol platform that the company says can be applied to other ocular conditions. Recornea completed preclinical work including biocompatibility testing and a six-month rabbit study showing the implant was well tolerated. A First-in-Human (FIH) study on 12 patients is underway at the Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO) in Barcelona, with a second FIH planned at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome; the first implanted patient showed excellent safety and promising early efficacy. The company is also exploring a nitinol-based filtering device for glaucoma as a second product in its pipeline. Funds recently raised will be used to complete the ongoing FIH studies and advance the pipeline toward larger clinical trials and commercialization. Recornea has developed GROSSO, the first nitinol corneal implant designed to help patients with advanced keratoconus recover vision. The implant can be inserted via a conservative-additive refractive surgery that does not require removal of corneal tissue. Recornea says its technology restores the physiological curvature of the cornea, a significant improvement over traditional intracorneal ring segments. Current standards cited in the article include corneal cross-linking for early disease and ICRS for advanced cases. The company aims to improve quality of life for keratoconus patients and integrate its solution into routine clinical practice. Recornea announced a €150,000 financing led by Scientifica Venture Capital to support these efforts.
