Participated · Series A · May 2026
Shizen Connect builds and operates a VPP energy management system that integrates batteries, EVs, heat pumps (eco-cute) and other devices using IoT and AI to enable aggregated control and market transactions. The company develops its own IoT devices, AI-based optimization, and a digital platform for large-scale VPP and DR services, and sells related hardware. Its platform has been adopted by major utilities and energy companies (including Tokyo Gas, Tokyo Electric Power Energy Partner, Hokkaido Electric Power, Hokuriku Electric Power, Osaka Gas, JERA, Tokyu Fudosan and others) across household DR and grid-scale battery control. Independent market research (Fuji Keizai) cited Shizen Connect as No.1 by corporate contract count in DR/VPP platforms and No.1 in AC/RA system corporate contract counts. The company aims to scale via capital-business alliances with 16 partners to become the de facto standard VPP platform. Shizen Connect was founded on October 2, 2023 and is headquartered in Tokyo; it plans to use newly raised funds to hire engineers and invest further in R&D.
- NamiTech
Led · Equity · Jan 2026
Spun off from listed ICT giant FPT in 2022, NamiTech focuses on artificial-intelligence-powered customer relationship management tools and biometric security. Its flagship products include VoiceDNA, a voice-based authentication solution; NamiSense, a conversation-analysis platform; and CrystalSound, a conference-call audio enhancer. The company applies neural signal processing, speech technologies, and natural language processing to serve clients in Vietnam, Japan, and the United States across financial services, insurance, retail, and telecommunications. Although no revenue or user figures were disclosed, the firm positions itself as an enterprise AI partner and has already secured commercial deployments with multiple international customers. The recent strategic investment from energy major Toho Gas suggests an expansion into Japan’s utilities sector, complementing an earlier MOU between FPT Software and Toho Gas. NamiTech’s ongoing backing from Thien Viet Securities (TVS) provides both equity capital and potential access to venture-debt facilities. Management intends to use fresh funds to deepen R&D in voice and biometric technologies and to scale regional go-to-market efforts.
- Luup
Participated · Equity · Nov 2025
Luup provides the LUUP micromobility sharing service, allowing users to rent electric scooters and bicycles from more than 15,500 ports across Japan. The company has recorded over 5 million app downloads, numbers it says rank among the country’s largest for micromobility platforms. In August, Luup unveiled the “Unimo,” a compact three-wheeled universal car aimed at broadening accessibility to its short-distance transport options regardless of users’ age or gender. Management intends to keep expanding port density, increase vehicle fleets, and roll out operations in additional areas while working closely with police and local governments on safety initiatives. Newly secured capital will be directed toward safety measures, traffic-rule education, port expansion, service improvements and geographic growth. With the latest round, Luup’s cumulative funding has reached approximately ¥21.4 billion, reflecting strong financial backing from both equity investors and major Japanese banks.
- Ubiden
Participated · Series C · Aug 2025
Ubiden's WeCharge is a one-stop EV charging service tailored to condominium and rental apartment buildings, handling consensus building with management associations, subsidy applications, construction design and execution, billing, and remote management. The service uses AI for remote control of chargers and includes a demand-leveling function that prioritizes charging during periods with higher renewable-energy ratios. WeCharge targets the insufficient charging infrastructure in urban apartment complexes and promotes at-home nighttime charging to boost EV and PHEV adoption. Ubiden is considering integration with virtual power plant (VPP) systems to enable local energy production and consumption. Proceeds will fund nationwide expansion of WeCharge, development of systems for specific measurement compliance and time-based billing, enhancement of AI charging control, recruitment, and stronger partnerships with apartment management companies, electrical contractors, and energy providers. Total funds raised to date are ¥2.75 billion, and the company expects Tokyo's mandate requiring charging facilities in new apartment buildings from fiscal 2025 to accelerate deployment. Ubiden operates the WeCharge EV charging service and develops solutions for sustainable EV charging. The company said it will use newly raised funds to expand WeCharge’s product line and develop new technologies. Ubiden plans to broaden its business areas and strengthen alliances to support market expansion. Management frames these moves as contributing to a carbon‑neutral society and improving customer charging experience. The company was founded in April 2019 and is headquartered in Minato, Tokyo. Recent fundraising activity (Series B extension and debt) informs its near‑term investment in product and market growth.
