  • FR8Labs

    Participated · Seed · Nov 2023

Fr8Labs builds a SaaS operating system that supports a freight forwarder’s entire workflow, including quotation, booking confirmations, shipment confirmation, job accounting and an accounting backend. The platform links departments like sales and operations, integrates with email and chat, and includes modules such as a Warehouse Management System that can interface with clients’ ERP. Its tools automate manual tasks—for example, uploading a PDF of a shipping order can auto-generate shipment bookings and required customs forms. The company currently serves more than 50 customers across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and Australia and is expanding into the rest of Asia. Fr8Labs plans to add FX trade, financing, cargo insurance, rates management and a marketplace, and aims to become an open ecosystem accessible via APIs. The team emphasizes leveraging existing freight forwarder networks and relationships to address fragmentation and localization challenges in Asian logistics markets.

  • Nano Technologies

    Participated · Series A · Aug 2022

Nano builds an Earned Wage Access and flexible benefits platform aimed at low-income workers, delivered primarily through its Vui app which lets employees access wages instantly. The company is working with pioneering employers and reports over 100,000 workers granted access to earnings via Vui, including employees at FPT Retail, Central Retail, GS25, Family Mart, Kangaroo and Truong Thanh Furniture. Nano’s leadership includes Co‑Founder & CTO Thang Nguyen and Co‑Founder & CEO Dzung Dang. The company focuses on supporting workers through the cost-of-living crisis and improving employer engagement via flexible benefits. Going forward Nano plans to target large enterprises in manufacturing—garment, shoes, electronics and wood—and to expand its solutions into a complete flexible benefits platform for low-income workers. The business is headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam. Nano Technologies provides earned-wage access through its VUI app, allowing employees to withdraw earned wages on demand. VUI launched six months ago and now serves more than 20,000 employees at companies including GS25, LanChi Mart and Annam Gourmet. The startup reports about 50–60% of employees sign up when employers offer the service and that users withdraw wages roughly three times per month. Nano typically fronts wage advances and is repaid by employers through payroll deductions, though employers with higher liquidity can front wages themselves; fee coverage can be employer-paid, worker-paid, or a co-pay model. The company focuses on retail, food & beverage, and manufacturing (notably textiles, garments and shoes). Nano participated in Y Combinator and was founded in early 2020 by Dzung Dang and Thang Nguyen; it recently raised seed funding to continue expanding and building employer-facing tools for staff management and engagement.

  • Ethlas

    Participated · Seed · Feb 2022

Ethlas builds an integrated Web3 gaming ecosystem that aims to let players carry progress, items, and identity across games while making onboarding seamless. Its core products include a Hybrid Authentication Infrastructure that combines traditional social logins with blockchain interoperability and EthlasPay, a cloud-powered blockchain payment solution that aggregates transactions and reconciles them on-chain. The company has developed over 30 games and recorded more than 15 million gameplays, and is led by CEO Wui Ngiap Foo, the former head of technology at Grab. Ethlas operates with a team of about 20 game builders across Singapore, the Philippines and the United States. It is expanding cross-chain through a partnership with LayerZero to support Polygon, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche and the BNB Smart Chain. Ethlas also partners with projects like Doodles and DeFi Kingdoms to enable NFTs as playable characters and uses a multi-layered security approach with collaboration from GrabDefence. The company is positioning itself as a platform for both gamers and developers and has pursued features like gamified DeFi education via its PokPok DeFi infrastructure. Ethlas is a free-to-play, play-to-earn GameFi metaverse built on the Polygon chain that enables casual gamers to win and encash cryptocurrency through familiar games. Its in-game cryptocurrency is called $XGEM (Exchange Genesis Ethlas Medium) and the platform plans to mint a first NFT series, Komos, with five tiers intended to boost gameplay. The Komo NFTs are modelled after Komodo dragons and were scheduled to be available before end-February 2022. Ethlas is working with game studios to launch titles on its platform under a revenue-sharing model. The company said it will use the US$2.7M Seed funding to expand operations, grow its team, and develop its product. Ethlas is led by Gennady ‘Ari’ Medvinsky and Elston Sam alongside two other founders (one to be disclosed), and is headquartered in Singapore with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, and Manila.

  • Mio App

    Participated · Series A · Jan 2022

Mio is a group-buying social commerce startup founded in 2020 that focuses on selling fresh produce and groceries in Tier 2 and 3 cities and rural areas of Vietnam. It routes produce directly from farms to customers via a vertically integrated supply chain — procurement, warehousing, order sorting and bulk delivery — and owns the majority of its logistics infrastructure and courier fleet. The company enables next-day delivery and says it can deliver fresh produce in less than 16 hours, which has driven higher customer retention. Mio sells through a reseller program called Mio Partners (often housewives and stay-at-home moms) who aggregate orders and earn commissions; the startup says partners can make up to $400 a month. Since TechCrunch last covered the company, Mio reported 10x gross merchandise value growth, a 10x increase in agents, grew its team from 60 to 240, and now fulfills more than 10,000 pieces of fresh produce per day across Ho Chi Minh, Thu Duc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An. The company plans to expand logistics and fulfillment, enter new Vietnamese provinces (including northern Vietnam) and add categories such as FMCG and household appliances, with potential international expansion considered later. Mio operates a social-commerce platform that recruits local resellers to market and manage group orders for fresh groceries in Vietnam’s smaller cities and rural areas. The company pairs that reseller network with an in-house logistics and fulfillment system, including a distribution center in Thu Duc, to enable next-day deliveries for orders placed before 8 p.m. Mio currently focuses on fresh produce and poultry and limits SKUs to lower logistics costs; it plans to expand into FMCG and household appliances, prioritizing higher-margin white-label goods. The startup claims hundreds of resellers (primarily women aged 25–35) and says resellers earn about $200–$300 on average, receiving a 10% commission plus additional referral-based commissions. Mio says its distribution center can process up to tens of thousands of daily order units. The company intends to use new funding to build out the distribution center and hire for its tech and product teams, and to add more personalization options so resellers can build their own brand identities.
